To celebrate 7820's return to steam a special train was put on during the evening for shareholders and friends.

7820 was constructed at Swindon in 1950 as a batch of 10 BR Manors which added to the GWR's previous 1938/39 built class of 20.

She had a service life of around 15 years being withdrawn in 1965 and was sent to Barry Scrapyard. She would wait until 1994 to steam again and for the next 10 years remained at the WSR. She was withdrawn in 2004 and after an overhaul was finally back in operation in 2014 at her new home, the GWSR. For the first time in preservation she carries BR black and is currently paired with the tender from GWR Dukedog No. 9017 'Earl of Berkeley'.

From the following shots it is clear that there couldn't have been a better evening for this service with the brilliant sun set. With thanks to Mike Solloway for inviting me on this important day for the locomotive and group members.
